A seminar on “Consumer Awareness Programme” was organized at Smt. B.K. Mehta IT Centre (BCA College), Palanpur on 23 September 2026 to create awareness among students about consumer rights, responsibilities, and safety measures.
The keynote speaker, Mrs. Purnima M. Mehta, Secretary of the District Consumer Information Centre (D.C.I.C.), Banaskantha, operated by the Banaskantha Consumer Protection Education and Research Mandal, Palanpur, was present as the resource person.
In her informative session, Mrs. Mehta highlighted various important aspects of consumer awareness, including basic consumer rights and responsibilities, the importance of obtaining a bill/receipt while making purchases, checking MRP, expiry dates and product details, precautions to be taken while shopping online, ways to protect oneself from misleading advertisements, the procedure for filing consumer complaints, and precautions against digital payment fraud and online scams.
The BCA Semester-I students participated in the seminar with great enthusiasm and interest. The session was highly informative, engaging, and inspiring for the students, helping them understand their rights and responsibilities as consumers and encouraging them to make informed and responsible decisions.
